TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 20 electric vehicles on Monday will tour 1,250 kilometers from Jakarta to Bali, which is initiated by the Transportation Ministry’s directorate general of land transportation, in campaigning for environmentally-friendly vehicles. The entourage of EVs was symbolically released by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi at the National Monument (Monas).
This marks the second event preceding a similar tour from Jakarta to Jambi earlier in 2022.
“I ask the touring participants to later be able to tell their experiences using electric vehicles. What are the benefits and advantages? This will attract public interest in getting to know electric vehicles," said the Minister, Antaranews reported.
In an attempt to accelerate the establishment of an EV ecosystem in Indonesia, the government has issued a number of regulations that eases people to own electric vehicles. The government aims to see 2 million electric vehicles operating across the country as daily transportation by 2025.
An electric vehicle exhibition will precede the event as the group ends the tour in Bali on November 11, which will coincide with the Indonesian Presidency at the G20 summit.
The 20 vehicles used in this event come from the Directorate General of Land Transportation, PT PLN (Persero), PT Hyundai Motor Indonesia, PT Nissan Motor Distributor Indonesia, PT Toyota Astra Motor, PT Sokonindo Automobile (DFSK), PT SGMW Motors Indonesia (Wuling), PT Blue Bird Tbk, PT Sinar Armada Globalindo, and PT Mobilindo Armada Cemerlang (Zhongtong).
