TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD announced the five considerations in the coordination meeting between state officials over the Kanjuruhan football match tragedy. One of the main concerns will be finding the perpetrators who sparked the chaos on the football field and naming them as suspects in the next couple of days.
"There are two pieces of evidence that we have secured," said Mahfud MD in a press conference on Monday, October 3, 2022.
Previously, hundreds of people died in the riots after the Liga 1 derby match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya at the Kanjuruhan Stadium in East Java on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has also ordered the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to conduct a thorough investigation of this incident.
The National Police were also ordered to enforce the discipline of structural Police officers in the area where the incident occurred, namely in East Java. Indonesia's football association PSSI was also ordered to take firm action against those who were negligent in handling the situation. "Thus resulting in this tragedy," said Mahfud MD.
The government has also formed a joint Independent fact-finding team (TGIPF) for the Kanjuruhan Tragedy. This team is on duty starting tomorrow for 2 weeks and a maximum of 1 month, during which the results of the investigation and recommendations will be directly reported to President Jokowi.
