TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted that some areas of South Jakarta and East Jakarta will enter the rainy season in the second ten days or dasarian of October 2022.
The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) is thus being prepared to face the rainy days.
“We are collecting data from the penta helix (the government, business world, institutions/communities, academics, and mass media) to find out supporting equipment owned by each element to mitigate disasters, particularly floods and fires,” said Jakarta BPBD head Isnawa Adji in a written statement, Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
Areas other than South Jakarta and East Jakarta were predicted to enter the wet season on the third dasarian of November, while the peak would likely occur in January-February 2023.
“Data we’re collecting include the number of boats, refugee tents, APAR (Light Fire Extinguishers), hydrants, ambulances, and the number of medical personnel,” Isnawa explained.
The city administration, he added, is also preparing various measures to deal with the impact of disasters that could be caused by the rainy season.
The Jakarta BPBD is also conducting data collection on potential disaster management resources in the capital through its page bpbd.jakarta.go.id/tangguhbencana.
