TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As Anies Baswedan's term of office is coming to end, the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council or DPRD agreed to propose three names to be selected for the Acting Jakarta Governor until the 2024 General Elections.
The Jakarta DPRD Speaker Prasetyo Edi Marsudi visited the Home Affairs Ministry office to submit the names.
“I submitted the file containing three names that are discussed yesterday. [The file] has been received today,” said Prasetyo at the Ministry of Home Affairs office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
He also showed proof of receipt for the file submission from the Home Affairs Ministry Secretary General Suhajar Diantoro. “I submit it to be followed up,” added the PDIP politician.
On Tuesday, September 13, the Jakarta DPRD held a joint leaders meeting to discuss the three candidates for the Acting Jakarta Governor. The three names that earned the most votes were Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono, Director General of Politics and Public Administration of the Home Affairs Ministry Bahtiar, and Jakarta Regional Secretary Marullah Matali.
The Home Affairs Ministry allowed the council to propose three names. The ministry will also present three names so there will be six candidates to be discussed.
After collecting the names of six candidates to replace Anies Baswedan, the ministry will hold a final assessment team meeting that will be chaired by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
