TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After two years of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jakarnaval is back this year in Ancol, North Jakarta. The series of the carnival has been taking place since Friday, August 5, 2022, at Ancol Art Market. The peak event will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Jakarnaval was held for the first time in 1999, becoming the biggest annual carnival parade in Jakarta organized by the provincial government to celebrate creativity from various elements of the community.
Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Andhika Permata said Jakarnaval is a form of appreciation to creative economy players and communities in the capital who had endured difficult times due to the pandemic.
“This aims at reviving the tourism industry in Jakarta, and it is hoped to drive the local economy based on tourism, culture, and the creative economy,” Andhika said as quoted from the city’s press release on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
The peak event at the Jakarta International E-prix Circuit will feature a parade of decorative vehicles, musical dramas, marching bands, and attractive performances from the community of cultural arts activists in Jakarta, as well as music performances by well-known artists.
The peak event of Jakarnaval is free of charge. However, visitors still have to purchase an entry ticket to Ancol Dreamland Park. More information can be obtained via Ancol’s Instagram @ancoltamanimpian or website https://www.ancol.com.
