TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police’s special team has not yet revealed the motive behind the fatal shooting of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J committed by suspects at the official residence of the former police’s internal affairs division chief Inspector General Ferdy Sambo at the Duren Tiga Police Complex, South Jakarta.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in a press conference said the investigation team was still exploring the motive for the shooting.
“Investigations on the witnesses and also on Ibu Putri (Ferdy Sambo’s wife) are underway. So we can't conclude at this time,” said Sigit on Tuesday night, August 9, 2022.
However, Sigit confirmed that it was not a shooting incident, instead of a shootout. Investigators are also examining reports of alleged sexual abuse against Putri Candrawati.
The former Head of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit asserted that information from experts and confirmation of the statements of witnesses are needed to reveal the alleged abuse.
The National Police have named four suspects in Brigadier J's murder case, namely Bharada Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu or Bharada E, Chief Brigadier Ricky Rizal or Bripka RR, and Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.
They were charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code on premeditated murder with a subsidiary Article 338 in conjunction with Article 55 and Article 56 with a maximum penalty of death, life imprisonment, or maximum imprisonment of 20 years.
