TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan supports the establishment of the Youth International Forum dubbed the Youth 20 Summit 2022 in the city. He said that the provincial government has a mission to push Jakarta to become a global city.
"The global city is where the global tourism is," the governor said in an online press conference on Saturday, July 2.
Anies Baswedan views that the Y20 Summit, which is part of the G20 Presidency, is one of the global events. Jakarta and Bandung will be the hosts for the summit slated to be held in mid-July 2022.
Jakarta government, according to Anies, supports the event in the form of funding, providing facilities, and resources. As stated on apbd.jakarta.go.id, the city government spent Rp2.74 billion for Indonesia Y20 Summit 2022.
West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil also supports the Y20 Summit event by preparing the location at the Asian African Conference building in Bandung. The budget for the event was reported to be in billions yet he did not detail the amount.
About 100 international delegations who are members of the G20 will participate in the youth forum. The Y20 Forum is specialized for young people to discuss four priority issues, namely Youth Employment, Digital Transformation, a Sustainable and Liveable Planet, as well as Diversity and Inclusion.
The committees have held discussions in various Indonesian regions to collect ideas of Indonesian youths, which will be brought to the Y20 Summit.
