TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bogor Police Traffic Unit confirmed that the odd-even policy is applied on the Puncak route starting from 14:00 local time today, May 25, until 00:00 on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
People willing to go on vacation in the area are asked to pay attention to the date and their vehicle’s license plate number. Under the traffic system, motorized vehicles with a license plate that ends in an odd number are only allowed through certain roads and toll gates on odd-numbered dates and vice versa.
“Yes, [odd-even policy is enforced] starting this afternoon. We enforce it from today because tomorrow is a national holiday. We decided in order to anticipate crowds of vehicles [in the area],” said Head of the Bogor Police Traffic Unit, Adjunct Commissioner Dicky A Pranata, on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at TMC Gadog Post.
Dicky said the traffic policy on the national holiday of the Ascension of Jesus Christ, which falls on Thursday, May 26, applies to all vehicles, including two-wheeled vehicles. He acknowledged that its implementation could be considered quite long because the area was predicted to be flocked by tourists due to the long holiday.
“We predict that people’s mobility will increase during this holiday and keep increasing until the weekend. On this basis, we anticipate heavy traffic by enforcing the odd-even policy. Then traffic diversion, such as one-way traffic policy, will be implemented depending on the situation,” Dicky said of the traffic policy in Bogor’s Puncak route.
