TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo welcomed an honorary visit from Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Nikola Selakovic and the latter’s entourage at Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, Monday, May 23, 2022.
During his visit, Nikola discussed various types of cooperation between the two countries. One of the discussion topics was the export of wheat for Indonesia.
“Amid the current difficult situation, as one of the largest grain producers in the European region, Serbia conveys its commitment to exporting wheat to Indonesia,” said Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi.
Retno said that Serbia's representatives would later meet with Indonesian businessmen or state-owned enterprises to discuss this commitment further.
Apart from wheat, Jokowi and Nikola discussed the number of exports of crude palm oil (CPO) from Indonesia to Serbia, which has increased from time to time.
According to Retno, Serbia's CPO imports from Indonesia have reached 30 percent.
Nikola also expressed his wish that Indonesia could send semi-skilled workers who will be placed in areas such as construction, food and beverage, up to hoteliers.
