TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ragunan wildlife park spokesperson Bambang Wahyudi on Monday explained that the urban zoo was visited by 31,206 tourists during the national holiday in commemoration of Vesak Day or Waisak on May 16. This number is slightly under the number of visitors on the previous day, or Sunday, at 38,579.
Citing Antaranews, the spokesperson said that most visitors came from the Greater Jakarta area comprising Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi.
He added that despite a large number of people, zoo management remained committed to adhering to the Covid-19 health protocol. Visitors were strongly urged to wear face masks and were traced by the national PeduliLindungi coronavirus tracing app.
Ragunan visitors were also required to purchase tickets online a day prior. “We are unable to utilize our full capacity,” he said.
