Jokowi Arrives in Washington DC to Attend US-ASEAN Summit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi arrived in Military Joint Base Andrews, in Washington DC, on Tuesday night local time, or Wednesday morning 08:00 a.m. Jakarta time. He is there to attend the US-ASEAN Summit from May 12 to 13.
Widodo landed after flying more than 24 hours, an official statement from the palace was issued today.
The Garuda Indonesia plane Jokowi was on made one stop in Amsterdam before landing in Washington.
Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, Rosan Roeslani, went on board the plane to welcome the president and first lady Iriana before escorting them to the tarmac. Jokowi then headed to the hotel before starting his work agenda the next day.
At the hotel, Jokowi met Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi who had arrived before him. Other ministers also in the United States are Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi, and Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.
At the US-ASEAN Summit, Joko Widodo is scheduled to meet President Joe Biden.
