TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) encouraged all state officials and civil servants (ASN) to reject any kind of gratuities ahead of Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran holiday.
“Ahead of Lebaran holiday, the KPK urges heads of ministries/institutions/regional governments and SOE/ROE to issue an internal appeal to civil servants in their workplaces to refuse gratuities,” said acting KPK spokesman Ipi Maryati Kuding in a statement, Wednesday, April 20.
The gratification, she explained, could be in the form of money, gifts or parcels, facilities, or other forms of prizes related to job positions.
“If, due to certain conditions, a civil servant or state official cannot refuse the gratuity, they are obliged to report it to KPK no later than 30 working days after accepting the gratuity,” Ipi underlined.
As for gratuities in the form of food parcels that are easily damaged and expired, she added, they could be distributed as social assistance to orphanages, nursing homes, and parties in need. The recipients must also report it to their respective agencies along with the documentation of the delivery. Then, the agencies must submit the report to the anti-graft body.
“Information regarding the mechanism and reporting forms for receiving gratuities can be accessed via https://gratifikasi.kpk.go.id or contact the KPK public information service’s hotline at 198,” she outlined.
Ipi also emphasized that state officials are prohibited from asking for funds, donations, and gifts as a form of holiday allowance (THR) to the public, companies or other state agencies, either orally or in writing because it can imply criminal acts of corruption.
In addition, KPK also reminded and appealed to all leaders of ministries/institutions/regional governments and SOE/ROE to prohibit the use of official facilities for personal interests during Eid in order to maintain integrity and avoid potential conflicts of interest.
