TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Traffic Police Director of Sr. Comr. Sambodo Purnomo Yogo confirmed that thousands of vehicles were caught on the electronic traffic law enforcement (E-TLE) or e-ticketing cameras for exceeding the speed limit on toll roads.
Not all vehicles, however, could be ticketed because the police must first verify the vehicle's data before issuing a ticket.
“Yesterday, Traffic Directorate reported that thousands of vehicles were captured for violating the speed limit. Of course, not all of the thousands of captures could be processed into a ticket because we must verify it first,” said Sambodo at the Jakarta Traffic Police Directorate Building on Tuesday, April 5.
Motorized vehicles recorded by the E-TLE cameras must have the same data as registered in the police database. For example, there must be the same data of the color of the car and the police number listed on the vehicle registration certificate.
Additionally, the police could not issue a ticket if the vehicle is not recorded perfectly. “We will continue to fix which cameras are shaking, which ones cannot make good capture, and so on,” Sambodo added.
Despite these obstacles, Sambodo said the police have issued e-ticketing to 123 cars for exceeding the speed limit on toll roads in the last three days.
