Tangerang Police Destroy Alcoholic Drinks, Drugs ahead of Ramadan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In welcoming the holy month of Ramadan, the Tangerang Metro Police destroyed 16,187 bottles of liquor and drugs. In the operation held on Wednesday, March 30, the police used a bulldozer to destroy the bottles of alcoholic beverages of numerous brands.
The officer who operated the bulldozer took two hours to destroy the thousands of bottles that filled the Tangerang Metro Police courtyard.
"Tens of thousands of liquor, which were confiscated from January to March 2022, were destroyed before Ramadan, which is days away," Tangerang Metro Police chief Sr. Comr. Komarudin said on Wednesday.
Apart from alcohol, the police also blended and destroyed methamphetamine and other illegal drugs.
The drugs were mixed with salt and then crushed in a blender.
"The number of people estimated to have been saved by destroying these pieces of evidence of syabu (methamphetamine) and ecstasy pills is around 16,339 people," Komarudin said.
