Govt Responds to News About Indonesian Official's Visit to Israel

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry responded to a news piece by ABC News on Monday which quoted Israel’s Army Radio that reported about the visit of an Indonesian health official in talks about strategies in handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
Foreign Affairs Ministry’s spokesperson Teuku Faizasyah on Tuesday said to Tempo that he is unaware of such an event and asserted that there is no official information of an Indonesian state official departing to the middle-eastern country.
“I am not aware of this and there is no information available,” said Faizasyah on January 18. “This should be asked to Ministries or state agencies that oversee healthcare.”
ABC News on January 17 reported that a delegation of Indonesian officials made a rare visit to Israel recently to discuss coronavirus strategies. ABC also wrote that Israel's Foreign Ministry would not confirm the report, but “believes in international cooperation in every regard to the fight against the coronavirus" and is prepared to share information and experience.
Up to this day, Indonesia and Israel do not have diplomatic relations.
