TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Pandjaitan on Sunday, January 16, officially called for employers to implement the remote-working or work from home (WFH) concept to reduce the spread of Covid-19, which has grown caused by the Omicron variant.
This aligns with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s orders that were made in a limited meeting held at the same day. The public activity restriction (PPKM) assessment will remain the same but people are now encouraged to limit their outdoor activities or public gatherings.
“May I remind you again that gatherings should not be held if unnecessary. Same goes to office activities,” said Luhut Pandjaitan, Antaranews reported. “If the option to work from home can be implemented, we will hand it to leaders to assess it themselves. But I urge the WFH option to be implemented.”
He further encouraged offices to let their workers work from home, if possible. This includes office meetings and similar activities. “It is not a ban against physical meetings. I will hand it to them to conduct their own assessment.”
The coordinator of the Java-Bali PPKM believes the industry will not have an issue with this suggestion.
