TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bandung Police Chief Aswin Sipayung on Wednesday acted swiftly to arrest two male and one female suspects who were involved in the raping and trafficking of a 14-year old teenage girl in Bandung City, West Java.

“We immediately filed the criminal report against the suspects and detained them,” said the police chief on December 29, 2021, Antaranews reported.

The case started when the 14-year old teen disappeared in the middle of December this year, which prompted the missing person’s report filed by the teen’s parents.

One week later, her parents were informed about their daughter's whereabouts from information on social media. The information was immediately followed up by the authorities.

This incident blew up on social media and went viral, which exposed the alleged suspects. The narrative of the incident that circulated on social media says the victim was raped and then sold to dozens of people through an online app. The teen was also physically abused by the suspects.

The Police Chief asserted that the authorities will continue to hunt down the suspects who were involved in the heinous crime. The victim is being accompanied by a health expert to help her overcome her trauma.

“We will capture more of the suspects today. I ask for your support to arrest all of them,” he added.
