Minor Earthquake Shakes Cianjur in West Java

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Monday announced a magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck the region of Cianjur in West Java at 07:41 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
The agency’s head of BBMKG Hendro Nugroho said the quake’s epicenter was at the coordinates of 6.99 degrees South Latitude and 107.16 degrees East Longitude. This is 18 kilometers southeast of Cianjur and originated from Java Island’s mainland.
It is classified as a shallow quake with a hypocenter of just 5 kilometers reportedly caused by activities in a local cesarean section.
The effects of the earthquake is reportedly felt in the neighboring region of Cibeber, Cianjur Regency, at the level II MMI scale. No aftershocks and damages were reported due to the quake.
