Jokowi Speaks Of Indonesia's Huge Digital Market Potential

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo asserted that Indonesia has huge digital market potential and urged the younger generation to make use of it the best they could.
"The potential market is huge. Don't let this be taken by other people," said the President in his acceptance speech as he inaugurated the digital generation acceleration movement on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. "It is forecasted that in 2025 the value will grow to USD 146 billion. Which is enormous."
Indonesia's digital market potential, Jokowi claimed, was valued at USD 40 billion and grew to USD 47 billion the following year in 2020. As of now, the number had increased again to 49 percent amounting to a total of USD 70 billion.
Also, the market's potential growth is increasing due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The logistics sector rose 60 percent due to the use of delivery and groceries. New digital consumers also grew 10.2 percent. E-money transactions also rose 55 percent as of October 2021. The volume of e-money transactions compared to last year as of October also increased by 31 percent.
According to the President, Indonesia currently has 2,319 startups with one decacorn and seven unicorns among them.
