TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in commemorating the world anti-corruption day on Thursday said the government continues to push for the passing of the Asset Forfeiture Bill.
In his acceptance speech at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters, the President said “The government continues to push for the immediate enactment of the Law on the Confiscation of Criminal Assets.”
He said asset recovery and increasing non-tax state revenues should also be prioritized as it saves and restores state finances, as well as mitigating acts of corruption from an early age.
The Asset Confiscation Bill is currently not included in the House of Representatives (DPR) national legislation program or Prolegnas 2021, but Jokowi said the government would continue to push for the regulation to be ratified immediately.
"We hope next year, God willing, it can be completed to realize fair law enforcement in a professional and accountable manner to improve the welfare of the people," said Jokowi.
