TEMPO.CO, JakartaFormer investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Novel Baswedan has accepted the offer to become a civil servant (ASN) at the National Police. He conveyed his willingness after participating in the dissemination of the National Police Regulation No. 15 of 2021 on the appointment of 57 former KPK employees to become a police ASN.

“I am in a position to accept,” said Novel at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Monday, December 6.

He revealed a number of considerations in deciding to become a police civil servant. He explained National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit said the former KPK employees would be placed in a special task force that prevents corruption. Thus, he is optimistic that he could keep contributing to eradicating corruption through the task force.

Novel claimed that most of the former employees were also willing to join the police. However, he stopped short of detailing the exact number of employees. “Most of us accept [the offer],” said Novel, who is a former policeman.

During the announcement of the regulation, former KPK employees willing to be the police civil servants signed a letter of willingness and will take a competency test scheduled for tomorrow.

National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said the test was aimed at mapping the capabilities of each candidate for their new position. “There is no assessment whether they are eligible or not,” Dedi confirmed.
