TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Drone Pilots Association (APDI) on Thursday strongly urged its 500 members to obey the drone flight etiquette during the World Superbike (WSBK) race in the newly-built Mandalika Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The WSBK event is scheduled to start today, Nov. 12.
The latest etiquette and regulation on drone flights, said the association, will be disseminated to pilots spread across Indonesia, Antaranews reported.
The APDI Chairperson Akbar Marwan in Jakarta on November 11, reminded pilots to put forth communication and obtain proper flight permits before operating a drone at any location, adding that there are violations that can be criminally charged. This, he insisted, must be practiced during the Mandalika WSBK racing event, especially if it involves broadcasting the race since broadcasting rights are held by Dorna Sport.
“This means you shouldn’t fly a drone when the race starts as it would cause unwanted things to happen. Don’t just go merely seeking for contents as not everything that can be recorded can be a content,” he said.
He said there are security personnel during the race that are ready to act firmly against rogue drone pilots during the Mandalika WSBK race.
