TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday, November 12, inaugurated the Mandalika International Circuit located at the exotic island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. As reported earlier, the President took to the track riding his custom classic racer-style motorcycle.
The motorcycle is a custom built Kawasaki W175 with a green and white livery and the code RI 1, code of the state leader, on its fairings.
In a video uploaded in many automotive social media accounts, Jokowi can be seen wearing an all-black appearance as he walked to his motorcycle that was already prepared at the starting grid. He was accompanied by dozens of motorcyclists, consisting of national figures, who all lined behind him.
Citing Antaranews, President Jokowi in his acceptance speech in today’s event said the 4.3 kilometer track will host the WSBK and MotoGp events. The former is held this week and the latter slated for March 2022.
“The Mandalika circuit with a 4.3 kilometer length uses the latest stone mastic asphalt that supports international events,” he said at the race track.
Before the WSBK Race, the track will hold races from the championship’s junior category, the Asia Talent Cup.
