TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A village in the East Javan city of Batu on Thursday was struck by a flash flood after the region was showered by heavy rain in the afternoon.
According to a report by the Batu Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the floodwater caused more damage after large debris was taken by the strong flood current.
Batu City’s Emergency Operation Center (Pusdalops) announced the flash flood specifically happened at the Sumber Brantas Village, according to the agency’s field team.
The BPBD has also mobilized mitigation and search and rescue teams to the location to assist residents of Batu City that were affected by the flood. An Antaranews report said dozens of local residents gathered to help clean up the streets from debris.
