TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, said Indonesia would receive three shipments of the AstraZeneca and the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines today, August 30. They are the 43rd, the 44th, and the 45th deliveries.
“Alhamdulillah, we have received more COVID-19 vaccines today, August 30. There are two types: AstraZeneca totaling 1,086,000 doses and five million doses of Sinovac,” said Muhadjir in an online press conference via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel on Monday, August 30.
He added there were also 9,200,000 doses of bulk vaccines from Sinovac.
Muhadjir hoped this additional vaccine could speed up the government's immunization program. To date, only 29.91 percent of the total target of 208,265,720 people have received the first dose, while 16.96 percent have been fully vaccinated.
“This is clear evidence that the government continues to work hard to bring in COVID-19 vaccines to meet the national needs,” he remarked.
Muhadjir further appealed to the public to take part in the national vaccination program and not be picky about the brands of the available COVID-19 vaccines.
He also asked the public not to neglect the health protocols despite having been jabbed. “We are facing a reality that, like it or not, we will live together with COVID-19 in a period of time that we cannot confirm when it will end,” Muhadjir concluded.
