34 Percent Healthcare Workers Receive Vaccine Booster

25 August 2021 17:52 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in a House Hearing on Wednesday announced that 34 percent of Indonesia’s healthcare workers have received vaccine booster during the past weeks.

“There are more or less 34 percent of healthcare workers. Nearly 450,000 [people] as of this morning have been inoculated,” said the Health Minister before the House's Commission IX members on August 25.

Based on its regions, Bali received most booster jabs or 61 percent, followed by Riau Islands with 52 percent, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, East Java, Jakarta, and Yogyakarta.

Despite initial worries about the risks of combining different Covid-19 vaccine brands, the minister said the acceptance from healthcare workers was exceptional. This vaccine booster program utilizes Moderna, which is a different platform from Sinovac that healthcare workers had received.

“It wasn’t fully accepted by healthcare workers due to fear of the effects from mixing, now the acceptance is exceptional,” said Minister  Budi.

The Ministry offers the option for medical workers to receive a single platform vaccine booster adapted to their previous Covid shots.
