TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir said that his side is committed to encouraging SOEs to support Indonesian migrant workers.
Erick expressed his appreciation for the measures taken by the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) in collaboration with state lender Bank BNI to provide easy access for foreign employees to get a micro-credit program (KUR) and credit without the collateral program (KUT).
“Migrant workers are assets of ours. So I am enthusiastic from the beginning, I ensure that all ranks in the SOE Ministry and state companies can be the ecosystem of this partnership,” said Erick at the launching event of KUR and KUT for foreign employees in Jakarta, Thursday night, August 12.
According to him, state companies have thus far supported migrant employees, such as by providing a special route for their arrivals in airports under the management of Angkasa Pura and a special lounge to prevent them from being blackmailed.
“Inshallah, there will be another breakthrough on how migrant workers can also get a good life in the future through a system that we will discuss later,” said Erick Thohir.
