TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) received a report that the Jakarta government would postpone the distribution of cash aid or BST if the people have not received the Covid-19 vaccine.
The report came from a parent in West Jakarta who refused to let their children get the shot. “There is a ‘warning’ that if the family, including the children, refuse to get a vaccine, the cash aid distribution will be delayed, not removed,” said the KPAI Commissioner Retno Listyarti in a webinar held by Lapor Covid-19 on Thursday, August 5.
According to Retno, the reporter initially heard rumors about the delayed disbursement. They then asked the truth to the neighborhood unit (RT) head. “The RT head said it was the Social Service Agency that would delay [the distribution],” she added.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan previously announced that the reopening of economic and social activities would be followed by the mandatory Covid-19 vaccine. For example, visitors and employees could only enter a shopping mall or an entertainment venue by presenting a vaccine certificate.
However, Anies did not mention the plan to postpone the distribution of the Covid-19 social assistance to residents who have not received the Covid-19 vaccine.
