TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan reported Monday the updates on the emergency public activity restrictions (Emergency PPKM) from July 3-10 in a limited meeting presided over by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
“We can see from the implementation in the field that things have been progressing well, and we hope next week people’s mobility will decline according to our expectations,” he said in a virtual press briefing on Monday, July 12, 2021.
Luhut said the government’s teams in the field had been keeping a close watch on the Emergency PPKM through indicators of people’s mobility and activities by using google traffic, facebook mobility and NASA’s nights lights maps.
Luhut said the results revealed all provinces on the islands of Java and Bali had shown a decrease in people’s mobility by 10-15 percent from the targeted 20 percent or more during July 3-10.
Luhut said the government hoped COVID-19 additional cases in the country would not surpass 30 thousand. In the past three days, the increase in cases has been in the neighborhood of 33-38 thousand, while recovery rate has also been on the rise.
“So we hope next week it is possible that it [the curve] will begin to flatten and be under control if things go well and we are all disciplined,” Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said.
