TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Traffic Directorate on Friday said the Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ toll) elevated toll road, formerly known as Cikampek toll road, which connects Bekasi to Karawang, West Java, was temporarily closed after a pickup carrying pigs overturned and spread its payload across a toll section.
Sr. Comr. Agus Suryo of the National Police Traffic Directorate explained the accident did not involve other vehicles and that no casualties were reported. The toll road was closed after 20 scurrying pigs scattered around the location of the accident.
“It went out of control and was a single accident with no casualties,” said Agus on Friday, July 9.
Meanwhile, the head of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road's unit 2, Aris Nur Afandi, said the police had to close off the toll road section as authorities had to round up and evacuate the pigs.
“There were 20 pigs we had to evacuate and place them into another vehicle. The elevated MBZ toll road was closed due to the many pigs roaming the area,” he said.
