Jakarta Adds Highest Number of New Cases to Indonesia's Daily Covid-19 Count

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia continues to see high numbers of new Covid-19 cases reported daily. On Wednesday, July 7, authorities reported 34,379 new confirmed infections in the last 24 hours, the highest ever recorded.

According to the National Covid-19 Task Force, Jakarta reported the most daily cases with 9,366 new infections.

The second and third biggest contributors were West Java and Central Java with 8,591 and 3,823 new cases.

Wednesday's daily count brings up Indonesia's official caseload total to 2,379,397 orang.

Meanwhile, the number of recovered patients only increased by 14,835 people, less than half of the new cases. Indonesia now has recorded 1,973,388 recoveries.

On Wednesday, Indonesia's daily Covid-19 death toll also new high of 1,040, the National Covid-19 Task Force reported. This brings the nation's official death toll to 62,908 to date.
