TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi officially announced that an emergency state of community-level public activity restrictions enforcement (Emergency PPKM or PPKM Darurat) will be imposed on the islands of Java and Bali. The PPKM Darurat is in place from Saturday, July 3, until July 20.
Through the policy, the government hopes to lower new infections to less than 10,000 cases per day.
During the emergency restriction, all houses of worship and public venues are not allowed to open.
The operating hours of supermarkets, traditional markets, grocery stores, and supermarkets selling daily necessities are restricted until 8:00 p.m., with a maximum visitors' capacity limited at 50 percent.
Meanwhile, pharmacies and drugstores are allowed to stay open for 24 hours.
