Ma'ruf Amin Underlines Importance of Internet Access

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin stated in a virtual press conference on Friday, June 18, 2021, that internet connection will reach entire Indonesian regions by the year 2023.
The Vice President expressed his hopes during a press conference event titled 'Bangga Buatan Indonesia'. Ma'ruf argued that an expanded internet connection will enable MSMEs in Indonesia's remote regions to enter the digital ecosystem.
"Opening the digital access is hoped to provide an added value for local creations as the business can penetrate the national and global markets," said Ma'ruf Amin on June 18, 2021.
Amin believed that the strategic value of economic transformation is in digitalization, which is one of the government's priorities.
Ma'ruf also said that the movement to encourage Indonesian's to use local products is initiated to prepare the economic transformation towards digital platforms. Consequently, Ma'ruf insisted that providing telecommunication infrastructure is the most basic aspect to reach that goal.
