TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian officials found an 'Eid Cluster' in one neighborhood or RT in Ciracas, East Jakarta. Ten people tested positive for Covid-19 after returning to Jakarta from their hometowns during the Eid holiday travel or mudik. To prevent further outbreak, the police imposed a micro lockdown in the neighborhood.
"In Ciracas, ten people in the RT contracted the virus. And so we are implementing a lockdown there," Jakarta Metro Police PR chief, Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus, confirmed on Friday, May 21.
The cases were first discovered when officers found that three travelers were confirmed to be reactive on their return to Jakarta. The Covid-19 Task Force followed it up with tracing, and found seven people with close contact to the three. All seven also tested as reactive.
Also in East Jakarta, officers found 16 people in Cipayung who tested positive for Covid-19. They took swab antigen tests after returning to Jakarta.
Yusri reminded that the peak of homecomers' backflow to Jakarta will be on Saturday and Sunday. Authorities will enhance checking procedures in 14 posts at the Greater Jakarta borders.
