TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the State Secretariat, Eddy Cahyono Sugiarto, confirmed that the government has never issued a Presidential Decree concerning the declaration of state financial Emergency.
In a written statement on Monday, April 5, Eddy responded to the circulating issue regarding the issuance of a decree issued by President Jokowi on the determination of the financial crisis amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The decree dated March 17, 2021, stipulated a financial emergency for Indonesia. “We hereby clarify that the news is not true (hoax),” said Eddy today.
He underlined that the government has to date never passed such a presidential decree that Indonesia is facing a financial emergency.
The false decree also noted that the SBI Fund (080264)-24 SD would be used as an assistance fund for the development and prosperity of the people. It was also said that the emergency period must be handled immediately before March 31 and that banks were expected to cooperate to disburse the fund.
