TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Provincial Government planned to build 21 pedestrian bridges (JPO) by 2021. The city’s Bina Marga Agency Head Hari Nugroho said that the footbridges will be designed differently from the previous ones.
“So that people crossing the bridge will get new impressions, new experiences,” said Hari in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
Bina Marga Agency will build the overpass by bringing up the local wisdom so that the design of each bridge will not be the same. “They will have different designs as we will adjust it to local wisdom,” Hari explained.
Additionally, the city administration will provide one elevator in each bridge for people with disabilities, pregnant women, and the elderly.
To accommodate cyclists, the footbridge in Sudirman-Thamrin will be specifically designed to be accessible for them to help them reach the bicycle lane.
“We will later create a bicycle lane that passes through the pedestrian bridge,” said Hari.
