TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of PDIP election campaign body Bambang Wuryanto on Tuesday said that the various presidential election surveys done by many pollsters today are not really essentially needed. He said the survey results will be important once the time arrives.
“Surveys are not that important now, [it will be important] later, when the actual battle starts,” Bambang Wuryanto said on March 23.
His statement came after a number of pollsters released their survey results on several figures that are claimed to be potential candidates for the 2024 presidential election (Pilpres). Many of these surveys results rarely favor candidates from the PDIP party.
Wuryanto compared the issue with past elections that actually favored a PDIP candidate in the Central Java Gubernatorial Election, Ganjar Pranowo.
“How was Ganjar Pranowo’s survey results back then? It was around 3 percent. Could he win it? He could. The fact is that in 2013 he was elected as governor,” said Bambang Wuryanto. He added that PDIP has not yet decided on who to endorse for the 2024 Presidential Election.
