TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government has extended the Enforcement of micro-scale Community Activity Restrictions or Micro PPKM for the next two weeks, following the central government’s policy.
“We have extended the Micro PPKM until March 8,” said Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria on Monday, February 22.
According to Riza, the provisions set during this period will be the same as those implemented for the last two weeks, including the capacity and operating hours of transportation modes. "All policies will be the same. No regulation is changed," he added.
The central government was earlier determined to prolong the newest Covid-19 curbs which had been running since February 9, 2021. The policy will be valid beginning today until March 8, 2021.
“We need to continue extending the PPKM as it is monitored to be able to suppress the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Chairman of the Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KPC-PEN), Airlangga Hartarto, in an online press conference on Saturday, February 20.
With the enforcement of Micro PPKM, Airlangga said there had been a significant decrease in the trend of Covid-19 active cases in Jakarta, Banten, Bali, and Central Java, as well as the hospital bed occupancy rate. “This is also in line with the Health Ministry's vaccination program,” said Airlangga.
