TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Member of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD Jakarta) on Sunday highly recommended the capital city’s administration to implement a stricter PSBB social restriction due to a surge in the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases on that day.
As of Sunday, January 17, Jakarta health agency reported 3,395 new confirmed virus transmissions and talks have led to believe the lack of health protocol compliance from members of the public as a likely culprit.
“Many people are neglectful towards health protocols and it seems people are starting to be apathetic,” said the Jakarta DPRD governance commission speaker Mujiyono on January 17.
Mujiyono believes the city needs to optimize the health protocol operations enacted by the joint team consisting of Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), the local military command, and police personnel. He said the city administration needs to firmly enact the Regional Regulation No.2/2020 on Covid-19 handling.
“Make sure that law is enacted rigorously,” he said.
