TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The inaugural vaccination in Indonesia today not only saw President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as the first high profile recipient but representatives of the general public and profession-based organizations were also invited to the live stream event from Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta.
In the Youtube live, President Jokowi thanked a vegetable trader from the area's Inpres Gading traditional market. He also thanked everyone involved and those who participated in the inaugural Covid-19 vaccination.
“Myself, together with representatives from the sectors of healthcare, religious, traditional markets, entrepreneurs, labor workers, and teachers have been vaccinated. Thank you to everyone involved,” said Jokowi on January 13, 2021.
The vaccination at the State Palace started at 9:30 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) and was separated into three sessions with the first batch of vaccines given to the president, chairperson of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) secretary, and representatives from Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama, National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander, the National Police Chief, and a celebrity.
