TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned electricity firm PLN extended the electricity discount program for millions of customers in 2021. The discounts are given to low-voltage households, businesses, and industrial customers.
"This commitment comes as the government decides to prolong the aid provision of electricity cost," said PLN Executive Vice President of Corporate Communication and CSR, Agung Murfidi, in a written statement in Jakarta, Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021.
In 2020, the company also provided electricity subsidies for customers in the wake of Covid-19. Last year, the budget allocated for the program reached Rp6.9 trillion.
For the beginning of 2021, PLN granted two types of tariff discounts. First, 100-percent discount for postpaid and prepaid customers in the 450VA category.
Prepaid customers will be given a free electricity token in the same amount of the previous month. The second type is a 50-percent off for postpaid and prepaid customers in the 900 VA category.
