Bali Issues Policy on Mandatory PCR Test for Airline Passengers

15 December 2020 11:50 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaBali provincial government has issued circular No. 46 of 2020 which requires domestic airline passengers wishing to visit the Island of the Gods to present PCR swab or swab test documents. The policy takes effect during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

“It comes to effect from December 18, 2020, to January 4, 2021,” said the regional Tourism Agency Head I Putu Astawa to Tempo on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

In the copy of the Circular, the local government mandated tourists traveling by air to show a negative result of the Covid-19 PCR swab test no later than 2x24 hours before departure. They are also obliged to fill out the electronic health alert card (e-HAC) application.

Meanwhile, tourists traveling using private vehicles via land and sea transport are required to show a negative result of the Rapid Antigen test. The test must be done at least 2x24 hours before departure. This certificate is valid 14 days after being issued.

The Ministry of Transportation planned to hold a coordination meeting today with the Covid-19 mitigation task force to discuss the requirements for the PCR swab test for tourists visiting Bali. The ministry would also issue a circular letter regarding the policy soon.

“We will further discuss it in more detail, including noting it into provisions,” said the ministry spokesperson Adita Irawati.
