TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati opined that efforts on economic recovery in 2021 would require other factors besides the state revenue and expenditure budget as the main instrument. One of them is Covid-19 handling.
“The emergence of vaccines is vital. This is a game-changer for us,” said Sri in a webinar today, Dec. 8.
Indonesia, she added, has received 1.2 million Covid-19 vaccines produced by Chinese pharmaceutical giant Sinovac. However, the immunization program will only start after the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BMKG) issues the permit.
“Hopefully, it can be delivered [to the public] after it passes the safety requirements by the BPOM,” said Sri.
As the process is still ongoing, Sri appeals to all parties to comply with the health protocols. “Keep wearing a face mask, maintain social distancing, and washing hands even though we have started the vaccine procurement.”
Other than the Covid-19 vaccine, Sri Mulyani mentioned another game changer which is structural reform through the Job Creation Law. She argued that the omnibus law is necessary since fundamental structural issues need to be dealt with and resolved.
