TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI), which operates the commuter line or KRL Jabodetabek, recorded an increase in the number of passengers in November 2020 by 13 percent or 11,451,083 people, compared to October 2020.
“We keep committing to implement the health protocols, especially amid the rising trend of passengers’ number last November,” said KCI spokesperson Anne Purba in a written statement on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
The daily number of commuters on weekdays amounted to 412,187 on average. The highest number recorded throughout the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) occurred on Monday, Nov. 20 at 443,633 people.
The commuters’ number on weekends also increased. The highest figure was noted on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 364,127 people.
PT KCI planned to add more train cars to 12. “In early December, there will be five trains that have 12 cars from previously 10 or eight cars,” Anne added.
According to Anne, PT KCI continued to operate 993 train trips per day from 04:00-24:00 WIB. The firm, she added, would adjust the operating hours to the government regulations given the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Jabodetabek or Jakarta Greater Area.
