TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Association of University Student Executive Bodies (BEM-SI) coordinator, Bagas Maropindra, on Friday, Oct. 16, announced that they will once again hold a rally against the recently passed omnibus job creation law.
Bagas, representing the nationwide BEM associations, assured that the rally today will be conducted peacefully and without being aggressive, moreover resort to anarchy. He said that this will represent the intellectuals and morale of university students.
“Through many ways the government is trying to brainwash people’s minds with every instrument they have, just to hamper people’s fight in rejecting the job creation law,” Bagas wrote in a press release on late Thursday.
He explained that students have four demands that will be expressed in the rally, with one of them demanding President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to revoke the omnibus law.
They also condemned any form of government intervention against anti-omnibus law movements and demanding the end of police repressiveness in handling protesters.
