TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Indonesian COVID-19 task force, Doni Monardo, said Friday the recent protests against the passing of the Omnibus Job Creation Law (UU Cipta Kerja) had increased the number of coronavirus positive cases.
“This endangers themselves and their family members once they return home,” said Doni Monardo in Friday’s written statement.
He then called on people to continue abiding by health protocols as they practice their constitutional rights to express their discontent against the Omnibus Law.
Doni asserted that Indonesia’s health emergency status was still in place. “But now many people are ignoring health protocols, intentionally creating large crowds, that way not only are they violating the law but also endangering themselves and their loved ones.”
