TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The official website of the House of Representatives (DPR) was allegedly being hacked. A short video posted by an account @donie.chandra on TikTok showed that the hacker changed the name of DPR into "Dewan Penghianat Rakyat" or literally means the council of people’s traitors.
The viral video was published on Thursday, October 8, 2020.
The website could not be accessible now and only showed, “An error occurred while processing your request. Reference #102.27f82b17.1602128709.4d5d4af1.”
Tempo was trying to ask for confirmation from the House Secretary-General Indra Iskandar. But there has been no response yet.
Reasons for the hacking of the House’s page were not clear yet. However, the words “DPR Penghianat” or “DPR is traitors” became a trending topic on Twitter right after the Omnibus Law on Job Creation was enacted on Monday, October 5.
The contentious omnibus law sparked many criticisms from various elements, starting from workers to religious mass organizations. Demonstrations and strikes against the law were staged in various regions in Indonesia beginning Tuesday until today, October 8.
