TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government’s COVID-19 task force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito on Tuesday confirmed that the rapid antigen test equipment will soon be available in Indonesia as it is slated to replace the current rapid antibody test kits.
“We have just received news from the WHO that there are a number of lists from the RT PCR including the rapid antigen test that can produce results in minutes. Surely this kit can be used in Indonesia under WHO recommendation to replace the rapid antibody test kits,” said Wiku Adisasmito on September 29.
The antigen diagnostic test kit is believed to be more accurate compared to the rapid test kits meant to detect antibodies, which both are widely used as early detection for COVID-19.
The rapid antigen test kits ipromises to be able to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 which differs from the current type that detects antibodies which has caused false negative results.
