TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian ride-hailing giant Gojek announced that it has implemented the geofencing technology amidst the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) which helps stop GoRide - motorcycle taxi - services in COVID-19 red zones.
“Consumers in red zones will automatically not be able to order a GoRide,” said VP Regional Public Policy and Government Relations Gojek, Gautama Adi Kusuma on Monday, September 21.
The geofencing technology marks locations based on GPS to help Gojek partners monitor and detect these areas. He also revealed that it is able to detect and warn the drivers that are gathering in a single group that consists of more than five people.
“Hopefully, with this notification, we will be able to reduce the number of crowds and take care of one another abiding by the government’s advice,” said Kusuma.
GoJek has also dispersed operational teams to crowded spots such as bus terminals and bus stops, and it continues to remind partners to maintain distances. The geofencing tech had been adopted after the PSBB was implemented again.
