Jakarta Hit Another Record with 1,505 New Covid-19 Cases Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Covid-19 mitigation task force reported another record of the new daily cases with 1,505 infections today, September 16. The figure pushed the total tally to 59,572.
The previous record was noted on September 10 with 1,450 cases, on September 3 with 1,406 cases, and on September 6 with 1,245 cases.
“The latest additional cases is 1,504,” said Jakarta Health Agency’s Head of Disease Prevention and Control, Dwi Oktavia, in a written statement, Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
Dwi explained that 502 of the total new cases were accumulated data from September 12, 13, and 14 which had just been reported to the Health Agency. The rest, meanwhile, was resulted from the 5,561 PCR tests.
In the past week, Jakarta has conducted PCR tests on 59,572 people, making the infection positivity rate to 13.8 percent.
Dwi went on to mention that there are 12,709 Covid-19 patients being treated in hospitals or practicing independent isolation. In addition, 944 more patients have made a full recovery today, bringing the total to 44,251 recoveries, while the number of fatalities hit 1,498 people.
Jakarta is now under the large-scale social restriction or PSBB Volume 2 after Governor Anies Baswedan decided to pull the emergency brake. The PSBB has been valid since Monday, September 14, 2020, for the next two weeks.
